MIV - HAMER HALL Feat. SARAH BLASKO
A snippet from the beautiful show last year.
A snippet from the beautiful show last year.
On a beautiful Naarm night we stepped into Fight Night Records and captured this moment. It was so fun to have the incredible Kee’ahn and Loretta Miller join us. There’s something about harmonies that always give me goosebumps.
Enjoy

We played Hamer Hall ! - it was an incredibly beautiful experience with the choir, Phia, Josh, Sarah Blasko and Hundreds. So incredibly immense. I felt like a captain trying to steer a giant ship out at sea. Thank you for having me.

Harry and I are back on the road this Nov / Dec. Super excited to be playing these shows. We had an incredible time at Wallaby Creek Festival last month. Lots of kms put down in the hire car, beautiful croc free swimming holes, lost phones, found phones, camping on beautiful country and many laughs.

Melbourne Indie Voices - such a delight and immense experience to play with them - to be part of such a community. Tuesday and Wednesday nights are becoming my favourite time of the week, sitting in an old building playing tunes, hearing the chatter of hundreds catch up on the day before snapping into warm ups, guided breathing and songs. It’s a true pleasure to play with this group. A very cool show is happening at the end of the year. Best to keep your eyes peeled.

Every WEDNESDAY night of March you’ll be able to find me at Shotkickers in Thornbury playing with the powerhouse Tracey Miller. The band is hot, the sound is hot, the vibe is hot - like silk to your ears. Come along!

Harry James Angus - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
I had the pleasure of playing with Harry James Angus at the Sidney Myer Music bowl a couple of weeks ago. The place had such a great energy - excitement that this day finally came after two years of waiting due to covid 19 restrictions and lockdowns. To be immersed in a crowd of thousands while listening to tunes on a sunny afternoon was an utter delight. So simple, so giving, so much love amongst the crowd.

I’ve realised it’s been a moment since I’ve updated my tiny blog… life’s been full... it’s been lovely really but this morning on a cold winters day I decided to go through some photos (my other favourite thing to do other than music).
I came across the motel gems from the tour with Emily Lubitz staying in Glenreagh or Wauchope. Jumping in the car with Wynona Miller and Emily, driving kms and kms to arrive in a little town to play music is one of the years highlights.
Beautiful towns, beautiful crowds, beautiful band mates and scary podcasts was how the week played out.

On the 8th of March I had the pleasure of playing at the Melbourne Recital Centre with the Women of Soul Collective. A huge night of disco / funk tunes with loads of sparkle.

We took over the Archies Creek pub for three days to create a record.
It was incredibly fun and flavoursome for the soul. A collection of Melbournes finest musicians in a tiny town creating swampy, moody tunes which are full of heart and soul. Tracey Miller is a weapon and will certainly be releasing a beautiful album for your ear holes in the coming year.

Hunt the Hunter - a moment captured from our show at the Brunswick Picture House late last year.
Now available on all the listening devices / platforms / music makers.
There’s plenty more to come!

Just Two is now out !
Super beautiful track written by Angie Hudson. We recorded this earlier in the year when it was still realistic to day dream about long days in new places with lovers, having the width of the world to play in.
Recorded at Rocking Horse Studios with the wizard - Steven Schram.
There’s going to be a beautifully tasty EP coming out in soon….

Another wet Saturday… another simple little video.
This one was particularly funny… we had borrowed a very nice Spanish guitar from a friend but the tuning pegs were so incredibly tight Ange couldn’t tune it up properly… so we were left with a guitar from a primary school… many laughs and beautiful times - lunch full of goodies from the garden, cups of tea by the fire and my little pup to keep us company.
This tune is about dancing and romancing through a European summer… a little different to COVID 19 and isolation at home.

A glum Saturday in the middle of COVID 19 shutdown…
Ange and I like to keep things simple so we pulled out the recording gear and some lights and captured this moment. It always feels like home creating and playing with Ange, she’s such a beautiful songwriting and friend- honest, raw and real.
In the midst of all the uncertainty that’s getting flicked up in the world it’s nice to just sit with a dear friend, drink tea, play music and share it with you.

Taking in the sunset after our final gig in Fremantle.
WA is beautiful - wide - dry - friendly - incredibly homely - colourful - familiar in an unknown way - bright - scentful(?) - good coffee - amazing flowers growing in peoples front yards.
Playing and travelling with this crew is like creating a new family - we discovered all sorts and laughed our way through car trips and unusual encounters. Apparently if you’re on the highway between Freo and Bunbury people often stop for pies at the pie shop known for its “Seafood Lasagne Pie”… to our surprise it’s not three different meals…
There’s something so special about waking up in a new place and being able to play music and explore with great humans, shaping routine over a handful of days - a morning coffee - walk with my camera - notes in a cafe and then onto travel and sound checks… capturing the beautiful petals of flowers blooming in front yards.
I will be back Fremantle
There’s so much more of you I’d like to explore

Mullum Music Fest 2019 -
A different space to previous years, this year we were slightly threatened by the bush fires in the hills. Town was swept in smoke, people slightly panicked but happy to be listening to tunes and having a moment of escape. This year I played with Alfalfa, Harry James Angus and was on the panel for Musicians in the Shadows along Hamish Stuart and Matt Bone. Sunday brought rain and a moment of ease as people danced in the street.
Thanks for another beautiful time Mullum.

I’m happy to share that I now officially endorse Gretsch drums through D’Addario Australia.
I recently received my Broadkaster kit and am absolutely in love - warm tones, smooth shapes.
I’m very excited to get this kit recording asap!
